Dr. Nussbaum will present on the basics of the human brain and how to keep your brain health across your lifespan. Join him for a fun, informative, and personally relevant discussion on brain health and how you can improve it.
Dr. Nussbaum's Brain Health Lifestyle philosophy promotes research-based activities that fall within one of the following five domains: (1) socialization, (2) mental stimulation, (3) physical activity, (4) nutrition, (5) spirituality.
Dr. Nussbaum is a licensed clinical neuropsychologist in the state of Pennsylvania. Having earned his Doctorate in clinical psychology from the University of Arizona in 1991, Dr. Nussbaum completed his internship and Post-Doctoral fellowship at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He is an adjunct Associate Professor in Neurological Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Doctor Nussbaum has 25 years experience in the care of older persons suffering dementia and related disorders. An expert in neuroanatomy and human behavior, Dr. Nussbaum has published many peer reviewed articles, books, and chapters within the scientific community.

Card Magic with Rob Mendell
Playing cards have been around for over 600 years and are a favorite tool of magicians. Rob Mendell, a Chicago-based magician who has entertained people with playing cards since 1973, is presenting an interactive demonstration of the art of CARD MAGIC at Marbles on the evening of Thursday, April 1, 2010 from 6:00 to 7:30.
Much of the 90-minute session will be an interactive lesson, during which you will learn and practice three or four classic effects that are easy to do, yet intriguing for an audience. Knowing a few good "tricks" gives you a great ice-breaker and a way to surprise your friends and family.
Minimum age for the lesson: about 10 years old
Cost: $10 includes a deck of cards you can keep

2nd Annual Chicago Crossword Tournament

Sharpen your pencils and try your hand at unpublished crosswords provided by the 'puzzlemaster' himself- Will Shortz. The 3 puzzle tournament will begin easy and get progressively harder. All levels of crossword enthusiasts are encouraged to participate. Complimentary Food and Drink will be provided.
Marbles: The Brain Store gift card prizes will be awarded to the 3 round winners ($25 each) and the winner of the final round ($50)
How it works:
There will be three open rounds plus a final round. During each round, contestants will have 20 minutes to solve the puzzle as best they can. When finished (or when time's up), the puzzles will be collected and scored by our judges. After the third round, the top three finalists will be announced (one from each round), and they will compete against each
other with the fourth, and most difficult, puzzle.
Proceeds from registration will benefit the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.
